To position the Sports Council of OAU to be globally acclaimed center of excellence in Sports development, Sports management, and research in Sporting activities.

Mission

To build Partnership and mobilize resources to enhance the Sports Council's capacity to fulfill its mandate for quality teaching and services and research in Sports field.

University of Ife/OAU at NUGA and WAUG Competitions.

The University over the years achieved outstanding success in national and international sports competitions. The sports excellence achieved by the sportsmen, their coaches and other sports administrators earned the University the appellation "Great Ife" by which the University is known. Out of the first ten editions of NUGA in which records are available that is up to 1992, the University was in first position five times; second position two times and third position three times. A similar trend is noted for WAUG except in 1995 when the contingent came 5^th^ overall. At no competition did the position of the University exceeded the unit bracket.
